Making A Comfortable Living In Atlantica Online
Part One – Levels 1 – 20
Preface
Atlantica Online offers many opportunities to make money, but sadly, more opportunities spend it. This guide will not make you rich, but you’ll easily be able to afford the basics and some of the luxuries. Much of you money making efforts later will be based of skills you develop early on, such as understanding the markets, box opening management, and knowledge of what quest rewards are most worth getting.
Levels 1 – 20
At this level, you don’t need money for equipment, but you need to start developing your capital as leverage to increase your earning power. There are two methods that you can use to do so.
Method 1 – Growth Vials
During your first several levels, you’ll notice that you’re picking up an item called Commodity Box [low]
These boxes have useful skill books inside, but much more importantly they also have Growth Vials.
While it may seem random whether you get Skill Books or Growth Vials, it isn’t. If you have your skills maxed out and at least 1 bonus point left on 1 character, you will only get growth vials… So how does that help us? It doesn’t, but when we look in the market we find something interesting:
The quick thinkers among you just rubbed their greedy little hands together and went and bought a bunch of Commodity Boxes, opened them, and dropped the vials on the market for 8999 Gold per vial, but let’s slow down and introduce the other concept before we totally destroy the markets for Growth Vials.
Method 2 – Market Manipulation
Ok, we bought some boxes and let’s say we got 200 of them. Now if we drop them on the market for 8,999 gold each, somebody else will just put theirs on for less. What we want to avoid is having our product sit on the shelves because we are less expensive.
How? Well, we buy anything lower than a set price and add it to our stock. Notice those 299 Growth vials for 9,999? Chances are high that someone bought all the Growth Vials for less than 9,999 gold and relisted them all for 9.999 gold. This way, that person gets the maximum profit from his own growth vials, and a few gold for each vials he bought below that price and resold. But most importantly, he cornered the market and ensured that if people need vials, they buy from him.
Now, I can hear you saying “Then how do I get in on this if that jerk is already working vials?” My answer is this, look for times when the market doesn’t have a glut of Growth Vials to do this, and when it IS over-stocked, look for other items which you can buy low and sell high. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but what stops most people is figuring out WHAT to buy lo and sell high… It’s basically a process of figuring out what people want.
For instance:
Gilgamesh does not come from a box…
People like to craft thing which offer excellent stats and are rare…
Gilgamesh offers excellent stats for its level and since it doesn’t come in a box… it’s rare!!!
(Don’t buy Gilgamesh, that’s not the point) DO buy things needed to make Gilgamesh that IS the point
Here’s what’s needed to make Gilgamesh armor:
Let’s look at the market and see what we might be able to corner
Hmmm… this looks promising. You can’t see it but the fixed price for Silver ingots is 1,500 gold. So if we buy everything up to 1,499and relist it all for 1,499, we can make a tidy little profit.
That is, if two things are true:
Do people buy it regularly?
Do we have the gold to maintain dominance in this market?
The first question is answered easily, by watching the market. Do you regularly see fluctuations in quantity and prices? Do you regularly see the items which can be made from it on the market? Is it used to make several items which you think people might want or need?
If so, this is a good candidate for asking the next question. Can I afford to corner this item? To corner the item you don’t just buy up a bunch and then relist it, you have to keep going back and making sure nobody is undercutting your price, and if they are you need to purchase their product to avoid your product just sitting on the shelf. This means that to comfortably corner a market you ought to have at least 4 times the amount of gold you expect the initial purchase to cost you. In this case, the majority of the money will go to one seller, about 4.5 million, and if you estimate what the rest will cost you then you come up with about 5.5 million total initial outlays. So that times 4 comes to just about 20-22 million to comfortably corner this market.
Keep in mind that every dime for this money is at risk, so you should so some things to increase your safety. First, never use more than 50% of your money to manipulate the market, you need liquid funds for items in game. Second, instead of manipulating on high cost product, find several low cost products to work with. Third, research the product thoroughly! Fourth, look for products with a 30% – 50% total profit margin, less than that and you end up inefficient, more than that and you take too much risk, Fifth, look for products with a lot of small quantities going slowly up in price at rates which look like someone chose them, products with weird rates are often sitting on the market for awhile and the game lowers the price automatically.
Final tips:
Growth Vials are constantly being sold, even if a lot of people know the trick I told you, you can still make money and save money on buying them.
Don’t try to corner the market just before the weekend, prices virtually always drop on the weekend.
If you can’t check your product one an hour, you don’t have the time to corner a market effectively.
Work your way up. You won’t handle products which require tens of millions at first, but you can work with products which can make you hundreds of thousands early on.
