WARCRAFT 3 VERSION SWITCHER (WVS) – COMPLETE GUIDE

1.20e to 1.21 and back :

  • This is mainly for the Philippine and Indian gamers of GG Client, where predominantly 1.20e version games are played.
  • Everybody else in the WORLD has 1.21.

If you want to play in the PH and Indian rooms with 1.20e but at the sametime you want to retain your 1.21 version as well. Then you need nothave 2 separate game versions installed in your Hard disk drive(HDD).
Instead you can use this simple tool. Its called the :

“Warcraft 3 : Version Switcher” : It is a simple tool which is used to switch between 2 versions of warcraft 3:

  • 1.20e
  • 1.21

Backing up current version using wvs:

If you have an older version of warcraft say 1.07 and if you wish to have a back up of it so that you can switch to it just in case, then you can do it using wvs. Follow thefollowing steps:

Step 1 : Once you have downloaded “wvs” to your HDD extract the zip file using WINRAR or WINZIP

Step 2 : Then double click on the “wvs” icon to run it

Step 3: Presently if you’re having version 1.07(say) for backing it up : click on the “Store current version” button

Step 4: Select the version which you have from the drop down list box :

Step 5: After selecting the version number of your war3, click on the “Make zip Package” to make a back up copy of your current version.

Step 6: This helps you to switch back to the previous version, if in case you face any problems with the latest patches.

Patching war3 using wvs:

Step 1 : Click on the “Switch Version” button :
Step 2 : Then double click on the version to which you would like to switch :

Step 3 : Click on yes and the game will be patched :

Step 4 : Finally click on exit when its done.

NOTE : Do not run the game by clicking on the icons in the Warcraft version switcher and search for games in  LAN, for games hosted via GG client. You wont be able to see them. Make sure you start the game only from  GG client by clicking on the “Start game” button found in the room.
