The Youngest World of Warcraft Gamer in the World?

Aessina of IGNWorld.com has discovered an article about a baby girl who is just 3 years old but already a hardcore gamer in the World of Warcraft. Her father was the one who exposed her to this fascinating world when she was just 12 months old and now she’s known as “Dangerboy” at level 60 interacting and grinding with the rest of the veteran hordes of WOW. Here’s her little story which has been circulating around the blogosphere:

“This is Charisma.

Our daughter is 3 years old and she has been playing Blizzard Entertainment’’s hugely popular MMO, World of Warcraft since she was 1½ years old!

Clearing monsters to swipe a treasure chest, PvP battlegrounds, and dungeon grouping are all taken in stride as Charisma (aka: “Dangerboy”) handles her oversized mouse and keyboard with professional gamer dexterity and skill.

At 12 months old, Charisma showed a great deal of interest in what Mommy (PvPmom) and Papi (juBBjuBB) were doing on the PC. When she starting navigating through Control Panel and Device Manager and changing settings, they built her a computer of her own.

Initially, she began playing WoW and doing simple actions like jumping and chasing bunnies, but she quickly learned the more advanced functions of the game and graduated into teamplay, looking for random people to help, and exploring the world. It became evident the newbie towns were growing too small too fast, and Charisma’’s limited online playtime had only allowed her to level her character to 20 by herself. We transferred one of our pre-existing level 60 Alliance Rogues over to her account, and her virtual world opened up wide. She ran, rode, and flew anywhere she could looking for new places to explore and learning each zone’’s nuances. We often include her in questing as a family and we group with her often in dungeon instances where she learns how to play a role in a team and not to run ahead blindly around corners.

Atlantica Online Featured Towns: Manila and Davao

The world of Atlantica Online MMORPG features real world locations in an alternate world where they are blended with mythological and fantasy elements. But don’t take it literally as the cities are often geographically out of place and heavily altered apparently to makes the game more interesting. The important thing is you can feel at home in one of those countries you live in or relate with other countries you have been before. From time to time, we’ll be featuring different countries with its towns, cities, dungeons, and interesting stuffs we can find in them.

My Atlantica guild master “Jaanus”, from France in real life, has shared these photos taken from lush tropical country of the Philippines. Check out the breathtaking screenshots from Manila and Davao after the jump.

Manila: The capital city

Most of the civilizations represented are in different time periods. Southeast Asia resembles ancient Indian kingdoms before Western colonization and Islamic influence, so you won’t expect Spanish influenced structures in the town of Manila. But those on stilt wooded houses floating on the water are common in shanty town side of Manila and a common structures in Bajau village located at Muslim Mindanao region.

Davao: The crown jewel city

Oh wait, do I see dead skulls? Am I in Davao city or in Skull Island? I’m wondering what monsters lurks outside the town, King Kong?

Atlantica Online MMORPG: Good to Know Tips

Atlantica Online will right away make you immerse in the witty gameplay and exploring real world scenaries mixed with mythological and fantasy elements. If you have already read our tips on “How to Use Market to Make Gold” and “How to use Trade Post to Make Money“, you are not yet half-way of the the knowledge in the complex world of Atlantica. There are other more alternative quest and hidden side-quest that will help you save money and be rich in a short period, as well as these quests are very enjoyable and rewarding while accomplishing it. This good to know tips is created by Xhaiden for My Atlantica Online Forums. Read on the “Good to know tips” article after the jump.

This guide is based on the experiences of Xhaiden and you have to respect whatever suggestion or opinion he has. You have a freedom to follow the step by step guide or create your own trade implementation. The choice is yours! ********************Introduction********************

With this guide, I’d like to share some tips, that nobody shared with me yet they are essential and could make your AO experience more enjoyable. Ok – “more” is just a small therm, cause honestly “IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE (Especially for the F2P users)“. Why for F2P users (you might ask)? Cause, if your real life budget is unlimited (hardcore spender), or you stoled your mommy’s Credit Card – then Item Mall is your friend. And basically, you don’t need a guide regarding in game money tips, you just get some stuff from Item Mall and sell it at insane prices (similar to rarest lvl 100+ Drops like Stormbringer or Shotgun). You can even pay somebody to play in your place and take all the glory in the end. Well, there’s an old saying: money makes the world go round – but this guide is not about that. So let’s do this… I mean, I’ll do this and you just sit back and enjoy your reading, I’ll even trow in some Pictures/Screenshots to make it more interesting and easy to understand…

*******Chapter I: The Grand Father of all Knowledge******

AO is a very complex game, but has a nice and well put together “in game tutorial”, so I’ll skip the basics. Normally, you could start your financial evolution at lvl 20, that’s when you have the option to “Go to Rome (teleport)“. And that option is free, cause the rest cost money, especially Teleportation License – so “DON’T WASTE the free samples you get at the beginning of the game“. Might be more useful later in the game, when teleporting from town to town is the only cheap alternative.

As mentioned before, you could – but It’s not recommended. At that lvl you should learn more about the game, have some fun with your first quests and don’t waste your money on junk, cause you need money to make money. And with the profit you get from those, you can get better junk and have a lot to spare for making more.

You’ll understand this later…

When you get to the first 500.000 you should be ready. The next step needs a few hours but, will save you days if not weeks and it’s essential for many things. So you’ll have to do it and it’s better early in the game then later. Basically all you have to do, is – “TRAVEL TO ALL TOWNS“. Whenever you enter a town, it will be added to your Travel Agency: Town list. So, next time you need to get to a place near a town, just “teleport” using Travel Agency.

I know this is part of the basics, but you need to do it faster and it’s very important for next step. Which is “Goncourt” … Who is Goncourt (you might ask)? Well, he’s the Grand Father of all Knowledge. A NPC that can exchange your 5k worth book, with one that costs 50 millions. It’s true that those are pretty rare (like War Cry [ADV] – a Spartan skill/class B mercenary) and that’s why they’re so expensive, but who knows – the next lucky guy, could be “YOU”.

You don’t need to set your hopes to high, cause from a limit of 300 -> 400 Boxes/Books per day (the number of boxes you can open and books to exchange is limited but resets every 24 hours), you have a pretty high chance to find some that might worth 100k -> 50 mil. It costs 1k to exchange a book, so that’s why I said you’ll need some money at first. And don’t worry – unless you’re the most unluckiest man alive… so unlucky that can even find 1 million worth books, from all those exchanges (which never happened to me – and I don’t consider myself a lucky guy).

Ok, let’s get back to town teleportation and why do you need it. Well, Goncourt as most NPC’s that can teach you some crafting “IS ALWAYS ON THE MOVE” – as the game puts it. He travels from town to town, but traveling so much gets him pretty tired, so he has to rest in some (10 seconds to 6 hours or something like that). But if his traveling all the time, how do you know in which town you can find him (you might ask)? Well there’s another NPC called Livingstone which can tell you the location of every wondering NPC. And don’t worry, this one is not going anywhere:

Near Bucharest – just follow the finger! or Go to Bucharest and check Game info -> Livingstone -> Auto -Move!

Now that I know he’s in Amsterdam, I’ll just get to the nearest city and teleport there with Travel Agency (that’s why you need to travel to all cities as mentioned above). Now let’s go beyond – I’m sure you got the idea by now, so next, I’ll share with you the fastest way to exchange books. But this is recommended for advanced users only. By advanced, I mean you have to know the prices of all books, cause if you don’t, you might exchange a good one (you can learn their prices by checking them, on town Market in same place as Travel Agency). This might take some time at first, but you’ll get used to it no time.

So here is what I do… First i clear the inventory of one mercenary, cause that’s where I’ll be changing my books… Oh… darn… wile I was writing this, Goncourt started his traveling for next town, which is not that far from Amsterdam so I’ll wait him there (just teleported there). Since this happened, I guess it would be nice to advise you, to exchange books only wile his in town, cause that way you can check their prices on the spot. Advanced users, the so called disciples of Goncourt, exchange their books wile traveling. But that takes more time and always get interrupted when his to far from you (cause you STOP wile exchanging but he keeps going like the Bunny from the Duracell commercial).

And I’m on him as I type the next line. So presuming you cleared the space from one mercenary. You’ll need to buy 10 books (5k ones) and put it in that place. Then click on Goncourt and start exchanging from HIS MENU. After exchanging the first book you’ll have a Book Box (i’ll tell you more about that after this). So right click on that box to open it, then wile it starts the random book cycle, click on next books to exchange it. So basically you’ll do two things, almost in the same time (Open -> Exchange -> Open -> Exchange). Presuming you already know their prices, you’ll stop just when you spot a good one.

I did mentioned something about boxes above. Well, Goncourt won’t exchange your Book for another in similar state. It will give you a Book Box, which spawn a random book when opened. And there are 3 types of boxes, in 3 different colors (Blue, Brown and Grey). Each color represents the book/skill lvl as shown in next screenshots:

= lvl 1 -> lvl 20 Random skill [BEG]

= Lvl 21 -> lvl 40 Random skill [INT]

= lvl 41 -> lvl 60 Random skill [ADV]

Of course the most expensive books can be found in the Grey boxes. But that doesn’t mean you should neglect the Blue Boxes, cause even they hold some rare books like War Cry which costs about 8 millions on market. Maybe I should show you one, so you don’t exchange it by accident (it happened to once in my early days..):

- HOLD ON TO THIS ONE CAUSE IT’S A KEEEPPEERRR! (at least until you sell it…) And that’s the [BEG] one, the next([INT]) looks the same, as in similar design but has a heavier look. Even the [ADV] model has a similar design, but it’s so heavy that they had to put a lock on it:

- this one will suck all the luck out of you. So when or if you find it, do the Mambo dance and don’t try anything that’s based on luck that day, cause your luck tank is on empty.

What else can I say about Goncourt… Well, I’m lvl 98 and I still use him as a source of profit, among others available at my lvl. So yeah, he’s that good, both for late and earlier game. You’ll see even top players like 110+ doing Goncourt. When he enters a town, that place gets full in no time, even that should say something. And this is what I got wile making this guide:

- I always sell them at lowest price, so the above cost about 20 millions. All this in 30 minutes and “NO Risk Involved“. It’s not always like this, sometimes I get books that cost only 2 mill (all of them). But for a low level even those help, and maybe next day will be more lucky.

Anyway I hope you got the Idea: “Travel to All towns ->Bucharest/Livingstone -> Find Goncourt -> Travel to that town -> Exchange as described above…”

***************Chapter II: Treasure Hunt**************

“Old McDonald had a farm… Ee i ee i o… – most of you know this song, if you don’t just click on that link. But what you don’t know, is that Old McDonald got tired of his farm, so he sold it and became a pirate. And he was so good, that he manage to keep his identity secret, yet he plundered more treasures then all the pirates put together. Maybe you know him by his alias which is Davy Jones – yep, he was so scary that he became a myth.

But he did have a heart in the end and left his legacy (the location of all his treasures) to his children. But there was a catch, he wanted to be sure that his children won’t become pirates like him… So, to inherit his legacy they had to fallow his old dream, which was his animal farm. So they did… in a way… But as you all know “McDonald’s” they got more wicked then Davy Jones itself and the worst part – they’re not a myth. They turned that farm in a slaughter factory, the biggest one on our planet…

But lets go beyond those wicked minds and back to his treasures. In current time you can see McDonald’s huge line of restaurants on those locations (on the place he buried his treasure) but back then in AO times, there was nothing constructed on those spots. And that brings us to the next part of our story. As mentioned before, his children had to follow his old dream regarding his animal farm, to inherit his legacy. But one of them, a girl named “Anne Bonny”, felled in love with the sea and the pirate life so she fallowed her own dreams. She also had the mind of a fox, so she made copies of all those treasure maps and that brings us back to our guide regarding “Treasure hunt“…

You can find this “Treasure Maps” on “Market” and they come in 3 flavors:

Old Treasure Map – lowest drops but their price is low as well. Teleportation License [MID] is the best you’ll get from those, which costs about 800k, followed by “2x Cultural Box” which can give you an historical item tradeable with a NPC called “Howard“. This one is traveling, just like Goncourt – so you’ll have to find him with “Livingstone” – as explained above. It-s true that this boxes can give you an cultural item that’s worth 20 mil. But there is a catch with this Items – sometimes Howard appraises them as FAKE – which worth nothing. So far, an statue worth 4 mill is best and the only expensive item I found. The thing is I did find other items that should cost millions, but they where all appraised as “Fakes” and that’s why I hate Howard the most. Most you’ll get is 200k – 300k worth items. But beware, this items can be traded only with Howard and they have expiration time of 24 hours.

Ornate Treasure Map – If you’re low level, then this is the one you should get. On Argos they cost about 8k – 10k but the items you find inside worth 50k -> 8 millions. Even here, Teleportation License (for 1 Day) is the best deal, but this license has no lvl limit so even lvl 120 players can use it. So might look very expensive for low levels but for the ones buying them, it’s a insignificant amount. I hear they added even better drops with some of the new patches, but I didn’t try them lately.

Ancient Golden City’s Treasure Map – this ones, might worth with some drops, but most times they don’t. They cost 4 mill and you could get 2 x Freezing Boxes, which come at a similar price, maybe even Divine or Phoenix. But so far I got 2 x Conquer Boxes from most, which cost 2 mil to get from market (both) or 5 x Volcano Valley Equipment Box which cost about 170k (each). So this is not a sure win or an affordable one…

Presuming, you got the maps let’s move to next step, or steps to be more precise. And this brings us back to my earlier advice about traveling to all towns. The things is – only the Old Treasure Map spawns in a nearby location. The others two (Ornate Treasure Map and Ancient Golden City’s Treasure Map) spawn in a RANDOM LOCATION. And there are two more things yo should know:

1 – The time is limited. The box will spawn in 5 minutes and will only stay there for 1 minute.

2- Other people can get your treasure when it spawn. But for them is an lucky strike, cause only you have the knowledge regarding the location and the time it spawns. So take this advice as a warning.

On the other hand if you have traveled to all towns, as advised above, you can teleport to a nearby town and just get to that exact spot and wait for your treasure to spawn. That’s how I do it and nobody stole a treasure from me – NEVER!

I did miss some treasures, but that can only happen in North America. The things is, this is a huge map with only two towns on it, each on the opposite side of the map (Vancouver, New York). Now comes the irony – the treasures sometimes spawn, somewhere in the middle. And it’s a bumpy ride… so yeah, it can happen.

To make things more interesting, I’ll show you the steps with some screenshots I made:

Open your Treasure Map…

Then Open the normal map and select the location displayed in first screenshot. In this case it’s Northeast Asia.

Now that you opened the location, described in first screenshot, you can see your treasure location. just go to nearest town (in this case – Beijing). From there follow the road to your treasure. Then wait for it to spawn in the exact location as shown with axis (X/Y) in first screenshot.

And here it is, just attack it as you do with normal mobs.

Attack…

Loot.. and that’s about all there is to it. Simple, right?

We should thank “Anne Bonny” for making this copies. You can do that personally, when you’re 100+. You can recruit her as a Mercenary in your group, but it’s not gonna be easy. Especially since you need daddy’s heart (and his a big Daddy like lvl 110 big) and powerful guild/nation to get it.

Chapter 3: Special Rings and Quest Resetting

In AO we have 2 types of special rings (so far). What’s so special about them? Well, they can only be use by your main character and have the best stats compared to the rest.

There, by resetting that quest now you can do it again and wear two powerful rings as the ones above. Quest Resetting, is also a good way to raise your income. Especially with the second ring (the lvl 80 ones) which has a price of 16 mil + wile you only spend 2.5 – 3.2 mils on 5 Multi-Hued Jewel Shard and Secret of times: Necropolis (License). And trust me, they sell… especially by hardcore Item Mal spenders, who just got 1 billion from a mount they sold and feel like spending some. Then we have 110+ level users, which can make 20 mil real easy in a dungeon and don’t like to bother with a quest like Necropolis which takes more time, that they could spend better on other things.

Quest Resetting has two purposes:

-Raise Income
-Raise Experience/lvl

Either that, or you can buy some item mall cheats like Scroll of Judgment. But doesn’t come cheap and you can only raise the experience of one individual. Usually used on Monks/Oracle and Archers – cause they can’t grow as fast as others, the normal way.

Beyond lvl 98 ID (Individual Dungeons) and Guilds Dungeons are the way to go. But I’m now getting ahead of myself…

The Ten Plagues of MMOs

I recently found this “Top 10 Problems with MMO’s” topic shared by GMTristan.com. This IGN article talks about the factors in MMOs that persistently annoys its players and takes the genre away from potential users.

Either you love them or hate them, here’s my take on the ten plagues of MMOs that should be avoided by the gaming industry in the future, after the jump…

10. Elves

Elves are inevitable. Even the Star Trek Online has its own half-breed or hybrid elven form character no other than Mr. Spocks. Banning elves from MMos is racism!

9. Humans

Gold farmers, hackers, and bots (run by humans) are the ones severely hurting the MMO industry. These shirtless scumbags must be castrated to prevent them from diluting the gene pool of the human race.

8. Perverts

You’d think twice if you think that the world of MMO is safe for your children when they are left home alone by themselves after reading this bizarre article headlined “Proof Paedophiles are using HOME”. Totally disgusting indeed!

7. No Consequences

I’ve been dreaming of an MMO that can give an exclusive quest for each player which could trigger an event that affects the whole nation or major changes in the story and environment. How about a time travel based MMO, where altering the past or present time, will drastically change the future.

6. No Story

You’ve collected the required keys, defeated the boss, and finally made it to the Imperial Gate. What’s next? Most MMO’s are derivative, they shamelessly copy other games without bringing an exciting new twist to the story

5. The Grind

You need a significant time investment (as well as hard earned money) before you can reach your character level’s magic number. That’s how P2p system is designed. MMO publishers never runs out of gimmicks to make your progress in the game draggingly slower than molasses.

4. PC Focus

Blizzard has reiterated for a zillionth time that no Xbox 360 or PS3 port of World of Warcraft is being planned. WOW was not really designed to work with consoles. It’s just more like a square peg on a round hole thing for the game.

3. Too Little Roleplaying

MMO’s is designed to make you escape reality. Your imagination and excitement cut short after hearing a group of orcs blubbering about job recessions, stimulus bills, and taylor swift drama. This is RPG not Twitter, damn people!

2. Death

New study reveals that common adult video-game addicts are overweight, introverted, and often depressed. Death is a curse to those sitting around gold farming 18 hours a day, nuff said.

1. All About Stats

I think this has already been resolved in Atlantica Online MMO. Your character’s success or failures rates on monster quests to pvp depends largely on the methodology of stunning and time limit. The random dice roll doesn’t exist in the game at all.

Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Play Aion MMORPG

As the last closed beta event ended last August 17, all eager hands are set for the game’s full release in September. The game enjoyed a major positive reaction from MMO players, switchers or newbies alike. If you haven’t played in any of the past six beta events, then you don’t have that much idea about what Aion really is. Allow me to give you a quick rundown of the game’s major highlights and give you an idea what to expect from the game. (Arranged in no particular order). Background
Aion is an MMORPG developed by Korean company NCSoft. The game was first released in South Korea November last year, then followed by China on April of this year. It is set to be released in September to cater European and North American audiences. Due to the success of NCSoft’s previous titles Lineage I and II, Aion has become the most anticipated game in South Korea ever since its announcement. At the end of 2008, it was chosen as the “Best Korean Game of the Year” for its “epic scale, immersive story, and stunning graphics and sound design”. Now, it has become one of the most anticipated MMO titles for this year.

Story
The game’s story is set in the planet Atreia that was split in two due to the cataclysmic events involving the Tower of Eternity. Long ago, the god Aion, ruler of Atreia created the powerful dragonic Draken race to protect the humans. Time passed and the Draken started to rebel against him, prompting him to create 12 Empyrean Lords. These powerful protectors erected a barrier to protect the humans from the Draken, which are later known as the Balaur. Humans later learned how to harness the power of aether, which enabled them to become Daevas – winged beings under the leadership of the Empyrean lords. Ten of these lords gathered an army of Daevas against the Balaur while the other two remained to serve as guardians of the Tower of Eternity – the embodiment of the god Aion.

After a failed attempted peace talk initiated by the Tower Guardians, the Balaur invited inside the tower launched an attack, prompting the guardians to sacrifice themselves – severing the world into two. Then born the two selectable races in the game. The Elyos, pure angelic beings resided in the lower half of the world. The abundance of light gave birth to lustrous vegetation and majestic landscapes. Asmodians reside in the harsher yet alluring upper part of the world. Exposed to the tower fragments and the dark, freezing world, Asmodians evolved talons as feet, darker complexion and red eyes t adapt their unfriendly environment.

1. Engaging atmosphere, beautiful imaginative environment.
Aion features a sublime, ethereal fantasy world, blending Eastern and Western cultures. It is as if you’re in a breathing, living concept art. As you traverse the vast world of the game, you’re sure to find eye-catching
landscapes, exotic flora and fauna, interesting landmarks and beautifully rendered locations. The weather and time of the day changes realistically, immersing players in the world. Players may also change perspectives at a roll of their mouse scrollers. You can zoom out for a full, third-person view of your character or zoom in for a full first person view of your surroundings. You can even view NPCs, enemies and other objects up close in full detail. The game is built with CryEngine, and NCSoft sure know how to fully utilize its power and bring the very detailed, high quality world to life – without requiring high-end PC components. Players using mid-range cards should be able to appreciate the wonderful world of Aion even in medium-low settings.

2. Enhanced Character Customization
It is every player’s dream to create a unique character worthy of calling their own. Aion offers a powerful character customization tool that players can use to directly modify almost every aspect of their character. Aside from the presets, players can modify smaller details including the daunting yet rewarding task of facial reconstruction. Players can also define their characters’ heights – so don’t be surprised to see armored kids
running around with massive weapons strapped on their backs.

3. Partying Up Encouraged
You won’t be able to go far in Aion as a lone wolf, since some of the missions will require you to team up with other players, simply because the common mobs are just too powerful (even if they’re at the same level as you) or you’ll need to defeat insanely difficult bosses that requires several characters to take down. The party system of Aion is very effective and player-friendly that partying up with others never seemed to be a hassle. For example, players can share objectives and loot. If one quest requires them to kill a boss, it doesn’t matter who in the group kills lands the finishing blow to it; as long as all party members have the same objective, it will be completed or updated for everybody. Experience, kinah (game’s currency) and items are evenly distributed. Rare items are put up in an automatic dice roll, with the highest number declared the victor and the owner of the item. Besides, “elite” enemies drop high amounts of exp and loot, making party grinding a mutual benefit for everybody in a group. And with the variety of classes in the game, players will learn to take up their roles in the team and cooperate to win battles.

4. Characters have wings
Unlike in other games, wings in Aion are not just for display but for practical use as well. Though players can only fly on selected areas of the map, just find a slope or an elevated area and “glide” with your wings. This
provides an easier way of escape or faster way to travel. Later in the game, you’ll be introduced to aerial combat, where you need to fight other players and enemies while airborne. Flying (and gliding) in Aion is not long-lasting however as it consumes “Flight Time” (default is 60 seconds). It is replenished while on the ground. There are also some areas in the game where you need to fly to meet up certain NPCs and gatherables. Also later in the game, players can access more spectacular wings to attach to their characters, adding more eye candy to your beloved character.

5. Enhanced PvPvE (Player vs Player vs Environment)
Players can fight against other players in localized duels or even in larger scales of legions (the game’s version of guilds) against legions. Players can fight each other in massive battles taking place in the Abyss, the core of the broken world to capture fortress and take control of territories. Players can earn Abyss Points by killing players from another faction, killing the Balaur and other abyss NPCs, or doing some quests. These points accumulate and define the player’s Abyss Rank which unlocks more goodies and privileges – and of course, the boasting factor. These points can be also used for purchasing exclusive Abyss equipment to make your character even more menacing and powerful.

The presence of a third, CPU-controlled faction in the game, the Balaur will surely make things a lot more interesting and unpredictable as they can choose to aid any of the two player-controlled factions or better yet,
join the fray and fight both of them at the same time. Besides, fighting ground and aerial battles above floating rocks against an eerie, bottomless backdrop should be mighty interesting.

6. Ability to do business as you please
Gone were the days where you grind enemies, collect their loot and selling them to NPC merchants to earn much needed money to get those equipment you want or to at least have enough fare to travel to your
destination. In Aion, aside from being able to earn money the traditional way (selling drops, doing quests) you can also set up your own private store anywhere you please! You can sell anything and you can even set your own prices! For example, should you obtain a gear your character can’t use, you can opt to sell them yourself as they won’t sell that much from in-game merchants. You can even create your own items through the game’s extensive crafting / item creation system and make money out of them!

7. Extensive item creation system
The ability to craft your own items for personal or business use adds more depth in the already extensive game. There are six available crafts in the game (armorsmithing, cooking, handicrafting, tailoring, weaponsmithing and alchemy), each will benefit various character classes in the game. Like your character’s experience point system, each crafting skill starts at level 1 and will increase in level as you continue creating items through that “profession”. Increasing your profession/crafting level will also give you access to high level recipes and items, which can be sold at a much higher price. The crafting menus, mechanics and interface are user-friendly so expect to be an efficient crafter in no time!

8. Lots of story driven quests and worthwhile sidequests
Aside from the usual campaign quests, there are tons of sidequests worthy of investing time and effort to. Not only that they yield fair amounts of experience and item rewards, they also give you more chance to explore the areas that you won’t normally venture into otherwise. The campaign quests also includes full voice-acting short movies that will give you more ideas about your objectives and the world’s current conditions. As mentioned earlier, there are also quests that will require you to team up with other players to work on mutual interests and reap mutual benefits. Quests are categorized per recommended level and will also provide much of the necessary details to be completed. You can even locate key NPCs or areas in your map with just a few clicks. How helpful is that?

9. A good selection of character classes
Aion offers a very versatile set of playable character classes. Players start off with any of the four main classes. Once they’ve completed their “Ascension” quests in becoming a Daeva, they can then choose any of the eight subclasses available, two for each main class. Each class has their own strengths and weaknesses, as well as their own unique skill sets. This variety alone should cater the needs of all kinds players should they want to play as tanks, dps, nukers, healers and support casters.

10. More surprises that you should discover yourself!
I know that this is not a very logical reason but the first 9 features and their associated screenshots should give you more than enough idea on what Aion really is. The game’s main strong point probably is that it has all the basic features an MMO should have and even better. Aion is a unique league on its own, combining eastern and western cultures to spur the interest of the international market. The best of all? Aion’s party-based quests, legion management and strong PvP/ PvE content promotes one major aspect that is sometimes forgotten or ignored in online gaming: social interaction.

MMOs are terribly guilty of robbing people of their social lives in order to grind on their own and build their ultimate character. I won’t say Aion is free of such charges but getting involved with other people, even in your secondary, online “life” is one small yet effective step in maintaining your contact in the human world. Evony.com threatens Bloggers: Don’t Criticise our Game or We’ll Sue

If you have read my article called “Do you have what it takes to be the next Spam Queen?” it actually explains everything about this obnoxious online game browser, the one that must not be named before, ehem Evony. The ubiquitous ads of Evony seems inescapable as they hog the ad space in every gaming site or non-gaming sites we visit. Since countless bloggers and advertisers complained to Google regarding this spam abuse of Evony, this is their early Christmas to all of us:

“Hi everyone — thanks for your patience so far. We’ve received all of your feedback and have looked into your concerns. Any Evony ads should now point only to evonyonline.com, so having evonyonline.com on your filter list should now effectively block all Evony ads. If you still see ads after adding this URL to your filter (and it’s been over 48 hours since you’ve added it), reply to this thread and we’ll look into it.”

Woot woot, I don’t need to filter all my articles and comments and replace them with an image version [], that’s less hassle indeed. Well speaking of the devil, UMGE Group, a publicaly listed game development company out of China, wants to dominate the online gaming market through their shady Evony, as well as dominating the advertisement world too. Now, it seems their next tactic for supremacy is to control the bloggers and media people by threatening them with lawsuits. Bruce Everiss, a veteran games industry marketer who runs a website at http://www.bruceongames.com/, is their first victim of this nonsense libel case they filed in Australia. The armchairdiplomat.com blog also criticize this move as saying “Now setting aside the obvious dick move on UMGE’s part by suing a UK blogger in Australia for a game owned by a Chinese company who’s servers are in America, doesn’t something have to be proved to be incorrect to technically be defamatory?” and PopeHat.com witty response “Its Lawyers Rely Upon, Act Like Boobs”. Even the British daily newspaper “Guardian” received a legal complaint from Evony LLC and the demanding to remove the controversial article “Has Evony become the most despised game on the web?” So I want to ask the same question I’ve been pondering, has the Evony become the most despised game on the web? Oppps, don’t say anything defamatory or Evony will shoot errr sue! New study finds Adult MMO gamers introverted and unhealthy

Are adult MMO gamers the new couch potato? According to the report in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, they find links between video gaming and health issues in older demographics aged 35 years old and above.

The author of the said article, Dr. James B Weaver III, has hypothesized that adults who choose to have sedentary lifestyle which is just play the addicting video games are the ones vulnerable to risky health issues, such as higher BMI and poor mental-health days.

They find out that the average of these adult video-game addicts are overweight, low extroversion, and often depressed. These factors make them sacrifice real-world physical activities in exchange of secluded lifestyle. They also compared the time spent of these adult gaming enthusiasts versus the non-players in the internet through online gaming and online game support, apparently this is also in connection with adults in massive online games, days and night non-stop grinding.

They are quoted as saying that further research among adults will be conducted to on how use digital opportunities more effectively to promote health and prevent disease.
