The world of Atlantica Online MMORPG features real world locations in an alternate world where they are blended with mythological and fantasy elements. But don’t take it literally as the cities are often geographically out of place and heavily altered apparently to makes the game more interesting. The important thing is you can feel at home in one of those countries you live in or relate with other countries you have been before. From time to time, we’ll be featuring different countries with its towns, cities, dungeons, and interesting stuffs we can find in them.

My Atlantica guild master “Jaanus”, from France in real life, has shared these photos taken from lush tropical country of the Philippines. Check out the breathtaking screenshots from Manila and Davao after the jump.

Manila: The capital city

Most of the civilizations represented are in different time periods. Southeast Asia resembles ancient Indian kingdoms before Western colonization and Islamic influence, so you won’t expect Spanish influenced structures in the town of Manila. But those on stilt wooded houses floating on the water are common in shanty town side of Manila and a common structures in Bajau village located at Muslim Mindanao region.

Atlantica Online will right away make you immerse in the witty gameplay and exploring real world scenaries mixed with mythological and fantasy elements. If you have already read our tips on “How to Use Market to Make Gold” and “How to use Trade Post to Make Money“, you are not yet half-way of the the knowledge in the complex world of Atlantica. There are other more alternative quest and hidden side-quest that will help you save money and be rich in a short period, as well as these quests are very enjoyable and rewarding while accomplishing it. This good to know tips is created by Xhaiden for My Atlantica Online Forums.
Table of contents:

*Chapter I: The Grand Father of all Knowledge* (lvl 20 -> lvl 120)

*Chapter II: Treasure Hunt* (lvl 20 -> lvl 120)

*Chapter 3: Special Rings and Quest Resetting * (lvl 20 -> lvl 120)

********************Introduction********************

With this guide, I’d like to share some tips, that nobody shared with me yet they are essential and could make your AO experience more enjoyable. Ok – “more” is just a small therm, cause honestly “IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE (Especially for the F2P users)“. Why for F2P users (you might ask)? Cause, if your real life budget is unlimited (hardcore spender), or you stoled your mommy’s Credit Card – then Item Mall is your friend. And basically, you don’t need a guide regarding in game money tips, you just get some stuff from Item Mall and sell it at insane prices (similar to rarest lvl 100+ Drops like Stormbringer or Shotgun). You can even pay somebody to play in your place and take all the glory in the end. Well, there’s an old saying: money makes the world go round – but this guide is not about that. So let’s do this… I mean, I’ll do this and you just sit back and enjoy your reading, I’ll even trow in some Pictures/Screenshots to make it more interesting and easy to understand…

*******Chapter I: The Grand Father of all Knowledge******

AO is a very complex game, but has a nice and well put together “in game tutorial”, so I’ll skip the basics. Normally, you could start your financial evolution at lvl 20, that’s when you have the option to “Go to Rome (teleport)“. And that option is free, cause the rest cost money, especially Teleportation License – so “DON’T WASTE the free samples you get at the beginning of the game“. Might be more useful later in the game, when teleporting from town to town is the only cheap alternative.

<- Click on Image to enlarge and “Follow the finger!”

As mentioned before, you could – but It’s not recommended. At that lvl you should learn more about the game, have some fun with your first quests and don’t waste your money on junk, cause you need money to make money. And with the profit you get from those, you can get better junk and have a lot to spare for making more.

You’ll understand this later…

When you get to the first 500.000 you should be ready. The next step needs a few hours but, will save you days if not weeks and it’s essential for many things. So you’ll have to do it and it’s better early in the game then later. Basically all you have to do, is – “TRAVEL TO ALL TOWNS“. Whenever you enter a town, it will be added to your Travel Agency: Town list. So, next time you need to get to a place near a town, just “teleport” using Travel Agency.

I know this is part of the basics, but you need to do it faster and it’s very important for next step. Which is “Goncourt” … Who is Goncourt (you might ask)? Well, he’s the Grand Father of all Knowledge. A NPC that can exchange your 5k worth book, with one that costs 50 millions. It’s true that those are pretty rare (like War Cry [ADV] – a Spartan skill/class B mercenary) and that’s why they’re so expensive, but who knows – the next lucky guy, could be “YOU”.

=============================================
=This books are so special, cause they’re MERCENARY SKILL BOOKS=
=============================================

You don’t need to set your hopes to high, cause from a limit of 300 -> 400 Boxes/Books per day (the number of boxes you can open and books to exchange is limited but resets every 24 hours), you have a pretty high chance to find some that might worth 100k -> 50 mil. It costs 1k to exchange a book, so that’s why I said you’ll need some money at first. And don’t worry – unless you’re the most unluckiest man alive… so unlucky that can even find 1 million worth books, from all those exchanges (which never happened to me – and I don’t consider myself a lucky guy).

Ok, let’s get back to town teleportation and why do you need it. Well, Goncourt as most NPC’s that can teach you some crafting “IS ALWAYS ON THE MOVE” – as the game puts it. He travels from town to town, but traveling so much gets him pretty tired, so he has to rest in some (10 seconds to 6 hours or something like that). But if his traveling all the time, how do you know in which town you can find him (you might ask)? Well there’s another NPC called Livingstone which can tell you the location of every wondering NPC. And don’t worry, this one is not going anywhere:

Near Bucharest – just follow the finger! or Go to Bucharest and check Game info -> Livingstone -> Auto -Move!

Now that I know he’s in Amsterdam, I’ll just get to the nearest city and teleport there with Travel Agency (that’s why you need to travel to all cities as mentioned above). Now let’s go beyond – I’m sure you got the idea by now, so next, I’ll share with you the fastest way to exchange books. But this is recommended for advanced users only. By advanced, I mean you have to know the prices of all books, cause if you don’t, you might exchange a good one (you can learn their prices by checking them, on town Market in same place as Travel Agency). This might take some time at first, but you’ll get used to it no time.

So here is what I do… First i clear the inventory of one mercenary, cause that’s where I’ll be changing my books… Oh… darn… wile I was writing this, Goncourt started his traveling for next town, which is not that far from Amsterdam so I’ll wait him there (just teleported there). Since this happened, I guess it would be nice to advise you, to exchange books only wile his in town, cause that way you can check their prices on the spot. Advanced users, the so called disciples of Goncourt, exchange their books wile traveling. But that takes more time and always get interrupted when his to far from you (cause you STOP wile exchanging but he keeps going like the Bunny from the Duracell commercial).

And I’m on him as I type the next line. So presuming you cleared the space from one mercenary. You’ll need to buy 10 books (5k ones) and put it in that place. Then click on Goncourt and start exchanging from HIS MENU. After exchanging the first book you’ll have a Book Box (i’ll tell you more about that after this). So right click on that box to open it, then wile it starts the random book cycle, click on next books to exchange it. So basically you’ll do two things, almost in the same time (Open -> Exchange -> Open -> Exchange). Presuming you already know their prices, you’ll stop just when you spot a good one.

I did mentioned something about boxes above. Well, Goncourt won’t exchange your Book for another in similar state. It will give you a Book Box, which spawn a random book when opened. And there are 3 types of boxes, in 3 different colors (Blue, Brown and Grey). Each color represents the book/skill lvl as shown in next screenshots:

= lvl 1 -> lvl 20 Random skill [BEG]

= Lvl 21 -> lvl 40 Random skill [INT]

= lvl 41 -> lvl 60 Random skill [ADV]

Of course the most expensive books can be found in the Grey boxes. But that doesn’t mean you should neglect the Blue Boxes, cause even they hold some rare books like War Cry which costs about 8 millions on market. Maybe I should show you one, so you don’t exchange it by accident (it happened to once in my early days..):

- HOLD ON TO THIS ONE CAUSE IT’S A KEEEPPEERRR! (at least until you sell it…) And that’s the [BEG] one, the next([INT]) looks the same, as in similar design but has a heavier look. Even the [ADV] model has a similar design, but it’s so heavy that they had to put a lock on it:

- this one will suck all the luck out of you. So when or if you find it, do the Mambo dance and don’t try anything that’s based on luck that day, cause your luck tank is on empty.

What else can I say about Goncourt… Well, I’m lvl 98 and I still use him as a source of profit, among others available at my lvl. So yeah, he’s that good, both for late and earlier game. You’ll see even top players like 110+ doing Goncourt. When he enters a town, that place gets full in no time, even that should say something. And this is what I got wile making this guide:

- I always sell them at lowest price, so the above cost about 20 millions. All this in 30 minutes and “NO Risk Involved“. It’s not always like this, sometimes I get books that cost only 2 mill (all of them). But for a low level even those help, and maybe next day will be more lucky.

Anyway I hope you got the Idea: “Travel to All towns ->Bucharest/Livingstone -> Find Goncourt -> Travel to that town -> Exchange as described above…”

***************Chapter II: Treasure Hunt**************

“Old McDonald had a farm… Ee i ee i o… – most of you know this song, if you don’t just click on that link. But what you don’t know, is that Old McDonald got tired of his farm, so he sold it and became a pirate. And he was so good, that he manage to keep his identity secret, yet he plundered more treasures then all the pirates put together. Maybe you know him by his alias which is Davy Jones – yep, he was so scary that he became a myth.

But he did have a heart in the end and left his legacy (the location of all his treasures) to his children. But there was a catch, he wanted to be sure that his children won’t become pirates like him… So, to inherit his legacy they had to fallow his old dream, which was his animal farm. So they did… in a way… But as you all know “McDonald’s” they got more wicked then Davy Jones itself and the worst part – they’re not a myth. They turned that farm in a slaughter factory, the biggest one on our planet…

But lets go beyond those wicked minds and back to his treasures. In current time you can see McDonald’s huge line of restaurants on those locations (on the place he buried his treasure) but back then in AO times, there was nothing constructed on those spots. And that brings us to the next part of our story. As mentioned before, his children had to follow his old dream regarding his animal farm, to inherit his legacy. But one of them, a girl named “Anne Bonny”, felled in love with the sea and the pirate life so she fallowed her own dreams. She also had the mind of a fox, so she made copies of all those treasure maps and that brings us back to our guide regarding “Treasure hunt“…

You can find this “Treasure Maps” on “Market” and they come in 3 flavors:

Old Treasure Map – lowest drops but their price is low as well. Teleportation License [MID] is the best you’ll get from those, which costs about 800k, followed by “2x Cultural Box” which can give you an historical item tradeable with a NPC called “Howard“. This one is traveling, just like Goncourt – so you’ll have to find him with “Livingstone” – as explained above. It-s true that this boxes can give you an cultural item that’s worth 20 mil. But there is a catch with this Items – sometimes Howard appraises them as FAKE – which worth nothing. So far, an statue worth 4 mill is best and the only expensive item I found. The thing is I did find other items that should cost millions, but they where all appraised as “Fakes” and that’s why I hate Howard the most. Most you’ll get is 200k – 300k worth items. But beware, this items can be traded only with Howard and they have expiration time of 24 hours.

Ornate Treasure Map – If you’re low level, then this is the one you should get. On Argos they cost about 8k – 10k but the items you find inside worth 50k -> 8 millions. Even here, Teleportation License (for 1 Day) is the best deal, but this license has no lvl limit so even lvl 120 players can use it. So might look very expensive for low levels but for the ones buying them, it’s a insignificant amount. I hear they added even better drops with some of the new patches, but I didn’t try them lately.

Ancient Golden City’s Treasure Map – this ones, might worth with some drops, but most times they don’t. They cost 4 mill and you could get 2 x Freezing Boxes, which come at a similar price, maybe even Divine or Phoenix. But so far I got 2 x Conquer Boxes from most, which cost 2 mil to get from market (both) or 5 x Volcano Valley Equipment Box which cost about 170k (each). So this is not a sure win or an affordable one…

Presuming, you got the maps let’s move to next step, or steps to be more precise. And this brings us back to my earlier advice about traveling to all towns. The things is – only the Old Treasure Map spawns in a nearby location. The others two (Ornate Treasure Map and Ancient Golden City’s Treasure Map) spawn in a RANDOM LOCATION. And there are two more things yo should know:

1 – The time is limited. The box will spawn in 5 minutes and will only stay there for 1 minute.

2- Other people can get your treasure when it spawn. But for them is an lucky strike, cause only you have the knowledge regarding the location and the time it spawns. So take this advice as a warning.

On the other hand if you have traveled to all towns, as advised above, you can teleport to a nearby town and just get to that exact spot and wait for your treasure to spawn. That’s how I do it and nobody stole a treasure from me – NEVER!

I did miss some treasures, but that can only happen in North America. The things is, this is a huge map with only two towns on it, each on the opposite side of the map (Vancouver, New York). Now comes the irony – the treasures sometimes spawn, somewhere in the middle. And it’s a bumpy ride… so yeah, it can happen.

To make things more interesting, I’ll show you the steps with some screenshots I made:

Open your Treasure Map…

Then Open the normal map and select the location displayed in first screenshot. In this case it’s Northeast Asia.

Now that you opened the location, described in first screenshot, you can see your treasure location. just go to nearest town (in this case – Beijing). Loot.. and that’s about all there is to it. Simple, right?

We should thank “Anne Bonny” for making this copies. You can do that personally, when you’re 100+. You can recruit her as a Mercenary in your group, but it’s not gonna be easy. Especially since you need daddy’s heart (and his a big Daddy like lvl 110 big) and powerful guild/nation to get it.

Chapter 3: Special Rings and Quest Resetting

In AO we have 2 types of special rings (so far). What’s so special about them? Well, they can only be use by your main character and have the best stats compared to the rest.

The first one is available at lvl 50, By now you should be aware by the basic functions of this game, like finding NPC’s (Game info -> NPCs). So, use that function and look for Shah Jahan. From him you can get that special quest, with a special prize. And here’s what you need for this quest:

-30 Multi-Hued Crystal Shards
-10 friends in your list
-a party (cause this are not normal mobs)
-Answer: Taj Mahal

As for the rings, that box acts as Asura’s Equipment Box which means you can pick a ring at your choice from 7 rings. My recommendations go with:

For second one, you need to be lvl 80. Same as before, use NPC search function and find Menelaus. His requirements are even cheaper:

-5 Multi-Hued Jewel Shard
-10 friends in your list
-a party (cause this are not normal mobs)
Answer: Obelisk

Yet the items or even better, but guess that was expected since it’s higher lvl. But this time you might have two options:

Everyone’s favorite…

An alternative for Range – or you could combine it with the Spearmaster’s Ring. And that brings us to the next part: Quest Reset.

You can do that with Licenses, that or normally crafted by different users and can be found on Market -> License (unless you raised your License Crafting level high enough to craft them yourself). And this is what it looks like:

– The thing is, it can be opened as a normal book. To activate it, you’ll have to look for NPC Hui Chao. And since his a traveling NPC, only Livingstone can show his location (or a friend is he saw him by accident ). Since I need to do it my self, I’ll show you:

This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 745×470.

There, by resetting that quest now you can do it again and wear two powerful rings as the ones above. Quest Resetting, is also a good way to raise your income. Especially with the second ring (the lvl 80 ones) which has a price of 16 mil + wile you only spend 2.5 – 3.2 mils on 5 Multi-Hued Jewel Shard and Secret of times: Necropolis (License). And trust me, they sell… especially by hardcore Item Mal spenders, who just got 1 billion from a mount they sold and feel like spending some. Then we have 110+ level users, which can make 20 mil real easy in a dungeon and don’t like to bother with a quest like Necropolis which takes more time, that they could spend better on other things.

Quest Resetting has two purposes:

-Raise Income
-Raise Experience/lvl

Either that, or you can buy some item mall cheats like Scroll of Judgment. But doesn’t come cheap and you can only raise the experience of one individual. Usually used on Monks/Oracle and Archers – cause they can’t grow as fast as others, the normal way.

Beyond lvl 98 ID (Individual Dungeons) and Guilds Dungeons are the way to go. But I’m now getting ahead of myself…

A Practical and personal Guide to making serious gold.

I have a main that is around mid-80s level and an alt that is lower. I am a casual player and work full time, meaning I do not have countless hours to play each day. All together in my month and a half of playing I have made more than 7 billion (if not more). This guide will explain how I did it, and how you can replicate my success in fairly short time.

I am still low level because I am a casual player and do not care to race to the top in levels. I enjoy FL and going through all the quests solo. If you do race upwards fairly fast, this guide is not for you as it is very easy to make money at the high levels by just selling the loot.

To start with – I dislike the usual buy low and sell high explanations and “guides”. A lot of that involves huge amounts of time scouring the market for the deals, and dying of boredom in the meantime. That is not to say that I do not do that but that’s just a simple gift that is given to us and does not require much thought.

Alright, so, when I first started, I looked at the Market to see the most obvious ways to make money and equip my mercs in the best stuff for their level.

I – Boxes

It is quite clear from a cursory examination that many of the items from boxes sell for more than the cost of the box. I saved up some money (by selling loot) and bought a bunch of insect boxes at few k per. I saw that some of the items went for above 10k and resold those. Then I examined the next few tiers of boxes (bran, dark night, babylon) and by looking at the market prices found the tier that was profitable and one that wasn’t. Those box profitabilities change somewhat from time to time but bran and babylon were just fine to use.

After a week or so I graduated to the higher level boxes and examined Pyramid, Osiris, and Shogun. At that time Shogun was great but I was not making money all that fast until I hit on Volcano Valley. Think about it – I was buying those VV boxes for an average of 270k and over 75% of the items from them sold for higher, with a few items going for as high as a million. At this point my profit started hitting the multi-million mark.

Here is the problem that unfortunately stops many people from continuing. As we all know, the stuff coming from the boxes is random. What happens when you spend your hard earned 3 million gold on 12 Volcano Valley boxes and you get 5 spears, 4 cannons, and 3 swords all of which could at any particular time go for 200k or less? A lot of people throw their hands in the air and say – this crap is gambling and it’s not worth it – I give up.

DO NOT spend YOUR LAST MONEY on a few boxes. Yes 12 is still a few. To have decent odds at making profit your safety is in numbers. And make sure you leave some cash just in case. And also make sure you can afford some momentary setbacks without breaking down. Be patient. I do not consider myself lucky in any way whatsoever, but by buying 20-30-50 boxes at a time I made loads of money in a few days.

II – Selling

You might ask – how did you manage to sell all those items quick enough to get rid of all the boxes and progress to the next tier? The answer is I undercut others. Simple enough? Yes but not really. There is a way to undercut that works and that’s not going 1 or 10 gold under someone else. Perhaps it does work to some degree, but it pisses off enough people (since it happens to most of us) that many just buy the item of the person that is being undercut by that 1 or 10 gold. Don’t be cheap. Drop a decent amount. Maybe that is 2% for the high end items and 5-10% for the lower end. 1-10-100 gold undercutting is cheap and people get pissed off. I bought items that were being undercut by that amount myself and I can’t be the only one.

At the same time, do not undercut too much. It is stupid on multiple levels. First you are losing that much more potential profit, but second you are potentially devaluing the item for other people, and many others might further undercut you without realizing that the item is already low. When this happens, the item category becomes ripe for a takeover (See section V) and I might swoop in and just buy your stuff to resell for a tidy profit.

Some might say – by undercutting you are missing out on higher profit. That every time you take your item off the market to undercut someone who undercut you, you are wasting money. Also some might say that if you leave the item on the market long enough it will sell in a vast majority of cases (either through natural attrition of the price or through people needing large quantities of said item). That is true. But I will submit to you that time is a very important component of making profit.

The faster you can get rid of all your items for somewhat smaller profit (but not ridiculously low profit or loss, unless the item just sucks and then it is a justifiable loss), the faster you can put a new batch of items to sell for that same somewhat smaller profit. The sum of those slightly smaller profits will dwarf your larger time consuming profits.

III – Using Alts

By the time I got to Volcano boxes, I realized that the few item spots we get on the market are just too few and sell too slow no matter how much you undercut. Some weekdays especially. I created 2 alts, leveled them up to level 3, popped them into a Japanese city with a 1% market/bank rate (very important – don’t waste too much money on those fees), and sent 50 Volcano boxes to each of them. I then opened them all up and put them for sale.

Obviously you do not want to waste time constantly logging on to them to check on the items and undercut others, but once or twice a day check and reset can be plenty to add loads of extra income. If you have the time and are not too bored doing that, utilize your other character slots

IV – Enchanting

I will not get into enhancing in this guide. I don’t do it. Well maybe, but on a very small scale on equipment for my alt, when it is financially feasible and worthwhile to gamble on low level equipment. Instead I want to focus on enchanting as a great way of making money.

By the time I got to Conqueror’s and Frozen boxes, I realized that +2/+3 items are quite valued for FL purposes, sell quickly (much quicker than higher +), and maximize both your time and profit. We are talking about [Adv] enchanting. I do not recommend it for the [Int] stage for the Market – might be a waste of time.

Enchanting always works and there is a slight chance of actually getting a higher + enchant than the sum of the parts.

When you enchant items at the [Adv] level, they are quite often sold for the straight out multiplier of the cost of the parts. So if a Conqueror’s Heavy Armor is currently going for 2mil, then +2 Heavy Armor (composed of 4 +0 armors) often goes for 8mil. Why waste time selling these armors 1 by 1 when you can just enchant (200k cost or so) – and sell it quicker. Remember that somewhat smaller profit is better than the slow higher profit.

You would not believe the amount of +2/+3 Conqueror’s and Freezing armors and weapons that I’ve sold. Yes, I lost money on some of them, but on a majority the profit was in the millions. Especially the freezing/conq stuff like Boots, Gauntlets, Heavy Armors, Orbs, Swords, Shields, Axes, Staffs, and Helms.

And it’s very nice to once in a while to get that +2/+3 out of 2 +0 items. Others will envy you

V – Shaping the Market (advanced)

So you got loads of money by following my advice and are thinking of ways of making money even quicker. In the course of following the guide and selling all those items you will often be frustrated at frequent devaluation of the non-Heavy Melee items. For example you created a Light Freezing Armor +2 after buying the boxes at 2.2m, with enchant stones costing you about 9m, and after seeing most +0 LFMs going currently at 3m, you put your +2 Armor on the market for 12m. Nice and tidy potential profit of 3m. Ten hours later you glance at the market and notice that there are a bunch of +0 LFMs now on the market for 2m and a few +2s for 8m… They have severely undercut you and put your item into the loss category.

I am only using Light Freezing Armor as an example and not as an advice to do the following on, as item dynamics vary and various approaches work better depending on various variables – including not doing anything and just taking the loss in MOST CASES. You will make money on other items so don’t worry.

However, you notice that there are just 5 +0 LFMs on the market with costs ranging from 2m to 3.2m, then there are 2 +1 LFMs at 4.5m, and 2 +2 LFMs at 8m with your pathetic +2 LFM sitting out there at 12m, not looking likely to be sold. Doesn’t it just frustrate you? But you got a few 100mil in the banks and a profit-minded attitude

What can you do? Well, buy everything up and set your own prices! Control that market. There might be a few other +3 LFMs hanging out there with low prices – you can buy them too. Or if they are priced well, leave them there. Buy all the +0, +1, and +2s – the ones that are very undervalued. Take your own crap off the market. Enchant the +0s and +1s, put your +2 back on the market for 14-15m (not too crazy, some other items like Swords, Shields, Gauntlets, Boots can go for 20 at times), put one or two +0s on the market for 4m to justify the +2 price, save 1 or 2 +2 for when your item sells, and if you have too many of those, create 1 or 2 +3/+4 and put it up at a nice profit as well.

Now the entire category is controlled by you. I’ve bought out a 200+mil worth category of Freezing Heavy Armors and made 50-100mil after my +4/+6 and a few +2s sold at higher prices that I set.

Sometimes you won’t make much money with some tactics. And sometimes you might even lose a bit and it might take a while to sell (still use that undercutting even with the million gold costs). But those are high value items, and the majority of the time you will make a profit especially since you do the market shapping when those items are already almost at the BOTTOM. Which means that even if they don’t sell until they drop to the bottom, you will not lose much money at all.

ONLY USE THIS TACTIC after familiarizing yourself with the Server Market dynamics for those particular items. Don’t just buy out random categories Those categories might be overpriced or sell especially slowly.

In my experience Melee items sell faster than Ranged and Magic.

Well that’s it for now. These strategies have worked for me, and if you read through, you can see that they are very simplistic. So why isn’t everyone else rich? Many people do not have the patience to follow through. But if you do, you will not lack for money at lower levels again even if you don’t have that much time to spend on the game. Good luck!

Making A Comfortable Living In Atlantica Online

Part One – Levels 1 – 20

Preface

Atlantica Online offers many opportunities to make money, but sadly, more opportunities spend it. This guide will not make you rich, but you’ll easily be able to afford the basics and some of the luxuries. Much of you money making efforts later will be based of skills you develop early on, such as understanding the markets, box opening management, and knowledge of what quest rewards are most worth getting.

Levels 1 – 20

At this level, you don’t need money for equipment, but you need to start developing your capital as leverage to increase your earning power. There are two methods that you can use to do so.

Method 1 – Growth Vials

During your first several levels, you’ll notice that you’re picking up an item called Commodity Box [low]

These boxes have useful skill books inside, but much more importantly they also have Growth Vials.

While it may seem random whether you get Skill Books or Growth Vials, it isn’t. If you have your skills maxed out and at least 1 bonus point left on 1 character, you will only get growth vials… So how does that help us? It doesn’t, but when we look in the market we find something interesting:

The quick thinkers among you just rubbed their greedy little hands together and went and bought a bunch of Commodity Boxes, opened them, and dropped the vials on the market for 8999 Gold per vial, but let’s slow down and introduce the other concept before we totally destroy the markets for Growth Vials.

Method 2 – Market Manipulation

Ok, we bought some boxes and let’s say we got 200 of them. Now if we drop them on the market for 8,999 gold each, somebody else will just put theirs on for less. What we want to avoid is having our product sit on the shelves because we are less expensive.

How? Well, we buy anything lower than a set price and add it to our stock. Notice those 299 Growth vials for 9,999? Chances are high that someone bought all the Growth Vials for less than 9,999 gold and relisted them all for 9.999 gold. This way, that person gets the maximum profit from his own growth vials, and a few gold for each vials he bought below that price and resold. But most importantly, he cornered the market and ensured that if people need vials, they buy from him.

Now, I can hear you saying “Then how do I get in on this if that jerk is already working vials?” My answer is this, look for times when the market doesn’t have a glut of Growth Vials to do this, and when it IS over-stocked, look for other items which you can buy low and sell high. I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but what stops most people is figuring out WHAT to buy lo and sell high… It’s basically a process of figuring out what people want.

For instance:

Gilgamesh does not come from a box…

People like to craft thing which offer excellent stats and are rare…

Gilgamesh offers excellent stats for its level and since it doesn’t come in a box… it’s rare!!!

(Don’t buy Gilgamesh, that’s not the point) DO buy things needed to make Gilgamesh that IS the point

Here’s what’s needed to make Gilgamesh armor:

Let’s look at the market and see what we might be able to corner

Hmmm… this looks promising. You can’t see it but the fixed price for Silver ingots is 1,500 gold. So if we buy everything up to 1,499and relist it all for 1,499, we can make a tidy little profit.

That is, if two things are true:

Do people buy it regularly?

Do we have the gold to maintain dominance in this market?

The first question is answered easily, by watching the market. Do you regularly see fluctuations in quantity and prices? Do you regularly see the items which can be made from it on the market? Is it used to make several items which you think people might want or need?

If so, this is a good candidate for asking the next question. Can I afford to corner this item? To corner the item you don’t just buy up a bunch and then relist it, you have to keep going back and making sure nobody is undercutting your price, and if they are you need to purchase their product to avoid your product just sitting on the shelf. This means that to comfortably corner a market you ought to have at least 4 times the amount of gold you expect the initial purchase to cost you. In this case, the majority of the money will go to one seller, about 4.5 million, and if you estimate what the rest will cost you then you come up with about 5.5 million total initial outlays. So that times 4 comes to just about 20-22 million to comfortably corner this market.

Keep in mind that every dime for this money is at risk, so you should so some things to increase your safety. First, never use more than 50% of your money to manipulate the market, you need liquid funds for items in game. Second, instead of manipulating on high cost product, find several low cost products to work with. Third, research the product thoroughly! Fourth, look for products with a 30% – 50% total profit margin, less than that and you end up inefficient, more than that and you take too much risk, Fifth, look for products with a lot of small quantities going slowly up in price at rates which look like someone chose them, products with weird rates are often sitting on the market for awhile and the game lowers the price automatically.

Final tips:

Growth Vials are constantly being sold, even if a lot of people know the trick I told you, you can still make money and save money on buying them.

Don’t try to corner the market just before the weekend, prices virtually always drop on the weekend.

If you can’t check your product one an hour, you don’t have the time to corner a market effectively.

Work your way up. You won’t handle products which require tens of millions at first, but you can work with products which can make you hundreds of thousands early on.

Atlantica Online is a sprawling MMORPG in which you will embark on an epic journey that will take you to mysterious and dangerous locations this real world mixed with mythological and fantasy elements, as well as through time and human history. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to obtain decorative prefix applied to a main character’s name which is called “Title” or “Title Buff”. Titles must be acquired before they can be used. Although a player may acquire many titles, each title may only be applied one at a time. Most titles are obtained by completing quests. An additional title may be awarded for obtaining sufficient fame. Quest titles are obtained by completing quests obtainable from one of four title quest NPCs, located Northwest of Athens named [Calliope], [Kleio], [Pandora] and [Thalia]. Each title requires the completion of only one quest objective, though the requirements are typically very high, requiring persistence to complete. This guide is created by Kiena for My Atlantica Online Forums. Without further ado, read on the guide after the jump.

This guide is based on the experiences of Kiena and you have to respect whatever suggestion or opinion he has. You have a freedom to follow the step by step guide or create your own character build and formation. The choice is yours! If you find anything offensive or mistake in his guide, you can contact him directly via this link.

Quest Title Guide

I know of – I have no clue if there are hidden titles or some other way to get them).

The first four sets of titles are ones you can get from one of the women outside of Athens by doing quests – there are four of them. You can only do one quest from each woman at a time (for a total of four title quests going at once, one from each woman). When you finish a quest for them, you must go back and turn in the quest, at which point they will give you an item (it looks like an envelope). You have to right-click on and use the item and you will now be able to use that title.

The easiest way to get to these women if you’re over level 20 but don’t have the Athen’s teleport information is to teleport to Rome using the button on the right of your screen that looks like an arch, then walk outside Rome and go to Athens. If you’re under 20, you’ll have to walk there. You can auto-walk to any of the four women by opening up the quest log and selecting them at the top of the log (Pandora, Klieo, Calliope, or Thalia) and then clicking on ‘Auto-move to NPC’. Be careful – you may run into mobs so take care when auto-walking! They’re located at approximately (you’ll have to move around a little, especially for Pandora) X:2090 Y:1104.

The last set of titles are only available by getting more fame points through Free League. The top few ranks are limited by a certain number of people who can have that title.

To choose your title, go to My Info -> Character and choose your title from the drop down menu of titles. You can switch your titles at any time, and it does not cost anything to do so. You start each day with no title selected – this is due to the buffs, see below.

Most titles give some sort of buff for a certain period of time. To activate the buff, simply go to My Info -> Character and choose your title as above. Your buff will instantly start for the specified period of time. You can only use the buff once per day, resetting at 6 AM PST. You cannot choose a title without activating the buff. However, if you’ve already used the buff for that day, you can still choose the title – it just won’t give you the buff. When a buff is up, you will get a notice across your screen indicating this fact. You will still have that title selected and displayed until you change it. If you log out or dc while buffed, you will lose the buff. Buffs do not apply during Free League or Challenges. Free League titles do not add any buffs.

There are some additional notes at the end.

Format is Title name – Quest requirements – Buff. A monster’s name x a number means you have to kill that number of monsters.

General – Fame more than 20,000, Top 1

Notes:

When there’s just an item with a number, it means you have to turn those items into the NPC and you will lose them. However, you can buy them from the market instead of getting them yourselves if you so desire.

If you’re doing the Demonologist title quest, do it early, before you hit 31, if you can. Scrolls are much cheaper at that level. Also, getting a bonus scroll in PVP does not count towards your quest number needed. If you can’t find any other scrolls on the market, check out Mana Piercing scrolls. Each of them has a fixed price (Scroll of Mana Piercing [Beg] – 500, Scroll of Mana Piercing [Int] – 5,000, Scroll of Mana Piercing [Adv] – 30,000, and Scroll of Mana Piercing [Pre] – 60,000). However, typically (depending on server and availability), Scroll of Dispel [Adv] are cheaper.

Persuading residents for the Linguistic Genius title means convincing the wandering residents to go to your town. You get a certain number of people for each of the wandering residents you convince – usually between 50 and 200 people. You cannot do this quest unless your guild owns a town.

When you have to do something that can fail (fishing for the Fishing Maniac title, gambling equipment boxes for the Gambler title), it only counts if you succeed. For the gambling of boxes, each box you get back (even if it’s multiple boxes at once) counts as one success.

Some of these may require you to re-do quests by using Secret of Time licenses – available on the market or by crafting licenses.

Chardin’s Perfume is from the Discovering Great Perfume quest at level 52. It’s needed to make the Secret Vial of Memory Loss and the Father’s Holy Water, as well as for completing the Smelling Flowery title quest. To get more than one perfume, cancel the quest as soon as you receive the perfume, then speak with Chardin again. He will give you another perfume bottle. Cancel it again (and again, and again) until you have as many perfume bottles as you want. Get one more in order to continue the quest. Currently, to do all the title quests that require Chardin’s perfume and to continue your quest, you would need a total of 8 bottles of perfume (Five for the Smelling Flowery title, one for the Forgotten title, one for the Blessed title, and one to finish the quest). If you have already completed this quest, you can reset it by buying or making a Secrets of Time: Discovering Great Perfume license and speaking with Hui Chao.

The Fish Stew is under quest crafting. It’s used for the Navigator’s Dream quest at level 73 and for the Dinosaur Master quest at level 88. It requires 50 Radish, 20 Onion, 20 Garlic, 20 Leek, and 10 Carp.

The Secret Vial for Memory Loss is under quest crafting (it is not the Secret Vial of Amnesia from the item mall). It requires 1 Secret Vial of Night, 100 Mandragora, and 1 Chardin’s Perfume.

Secret Vial of Night is from the Exorcist Recruiting quest at level 57. Like the Chardin’s perfume above, you can get seven of them at once (one to complete the quest, one to make the Secret Vial of Memory Loss, and five to make the Walpurgis’ Spirits) by canceling the quest as soon as you get the Secret Vial of Night and then speaking with Citratus again and accepting the quest again. Do this multiple times. To complete all the current title quests, you need a total of seven of these vials. If you have already completed this quest, you can reset it by buying or making a Secrets of Time: Exorcist license and speaking with Hui Chao.

Father’s Holy Water is under quest crafting and requires 1 Knight’s Holy Water (from the Lady Knight Recruiting quest at level 95), 5 Lucky Wood Pieces, 1 Chardin’s Perfume, and 1000 Yggdrasil’s Fruit. Like the Chardin’s perfume above, you can get two Knight’s Holy Water at once (one to complete the quest line, one to make the Knight’s Holy Water) by canceling the quest as soon as you get the Knight’s Holy Water and then speaking with Janet again and accepting the quest once more. If you have already completed this quest, you can reset it by buying or making a Secrets of Time: Lady Knight license and speaking with Hui Chao.

The Strange Rock Shard is the final reward from the Curious Scientist quest at level 74. It’s a box that you can also find on the market. If you have already completed this quest, you can reset it by buying or making a Secrets of Time: Curious Scientist license and speaking with Hui Chao.

Fausta’s Hand Mirror is a reward from the Princess Fausta Quest at level 96. She gives you Fausta’s Wedding Box at the end of the quest, and you can either choose the hand mirror (only useful for this title) or two Conqueror’s Equipment Boxes from it. If you have already completed this quest, you can reset it by buying or making a Secrets of Time: Fausta license and speaking with Hui Chao.

Walpurgis’ Spirits is under quest crafting and requires 10 Hearts of Darkness, 5 Secret Vials of Night, 100 Power of Night, 5 Lucky Wood Pieces, and 1 Crest of Niflheim.

Hearts of Darkness are under quest crafting and require 50 Growth Vial [Mid], 300 Mandrake Root, and 100 Ashen Crystals to make 10.

The Crest of Niflheim is from the Guardian Frigg Quest at level 93. She gives you this quest item to read, but it does not disappear when you use it. You do not have to do anything special to hold on to this quest item – simply do not destroy it. If you have already completed this quest, and didn’t keep this item, you can reset it by buying or making a Secrets of Time: Guardian license and speaking with Hui Chao.

In order to get the Divine Punisher title from Thalia, you must have the Priest title from Calliope. It will appear in the options for quests from Thalia once you have the Priest title.

You get the Inuit Tribe’s Signs from the level 98 quest from Chief Notoqchen, near Frozen Adlivun.

You get the Historia Seals from doing Solicitor and Dispatcher quests, which are reset daily.

The Revelation: Noun items are quest items. They look like skill reset books, and are non-tradeable (of course, as they are quest items).

You need to have one of the quests and then go fight mobs inside the Constantinople palace. You will get an item for that quest occasionally (like other quest drop items). YOU MUST HAVE THE QUEST IN ORDER TO GET THE ITEM. However, it will limit the drops you get of *other* things – such as quest items. You can always cancel the title quest at any time if you’re not getting enough quest items for your normal quest and the revelation items will be left in your inventory. Just remember to pick up the title quest again from Calliope. Also, only certain monsters drop certain Revelation:Noun items. There is currently no compilation of all the monsters that drop each type. Feel free to post if you have some information about who drops what.

The Hand of God quest is for enhancing an item to grade 10, not enchanting an item to grade 10. That means you need to speak to Vulcanus in Rome and use enhance stones, not enchant stones. (See a guide on enhancing and enchanting for more details about this). THIS MEANS DO NOT MAKE TWO +9 ITEMS AND THEN ENCHANT THEM TOGETHER OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

Mercenary steel boxes for the Greedy quest are only given by the wandering mercenaries you have to spend a lot of money on to get them to join your party (monks and vikings, specifically) – more than the 20k most mercenaries require. Go up to them with at least 100% will and greet them. Then offer them money as a gift – the cheapest amount seems to be 20,000 two times for the viking (for a total of 40,000) and 20,000 three times to the monk (for a total of 60,000) while your party is full. Artillerymen do not give steel boxes.

Winning a battle with at least two mercenaries in the unavailable status for the Strategist title means going to the formation window and unchecking one of the boxes for two of your mercenaries so they are ‘ghosted out’ during the battle and you can’t use them. It does not mean the mercenary has to be unconscious, and you do not have to have more than two unavailable.

You can only have one free league title at a time, and as your fame changes, so does which title you can choose – either up or down.

I believe that’s all. Please let me know if there’s anything unclear or confusing!

Hehe, Hello there. Welcome to my Trading Post Guide!
We all know that sometimes, it’s difficult to make some gold in Atlantica.
However, thanks to the Trading Post, players above level 96 can make at least 5-10 mil a day.
Sounds great, doesn’t it? There’s no catch, all you need to do is do some research and spare about 10 minutes of your time!
So read on heros, it’s time to make some gold. ;D

What exactly is the Trading Post? It’s a function in the towns of Atlantica where you buy products and re-sell them for a higher price!
However, it does take a bit of starting gold, but I can guarantee that you will end up with more once your done.
Remember, though, your main character must be level 96 to utilize this function!
Now, let’s begin.

Step 1. Make sure you are level 96.
Why? There is a special item you will need to start trading, and it requires a minimum level of 96 to use.

Step 2. Go to any town of your choosing and open Bank.
I recommend that you have at least 10 mil to take out to hold with you. (This means available to use right then and there.)

Step 3. Open the Market and go to buy. Seach for a Trade Permission.
Sold for a fixed price of 1 mil. This is absolutely necessary!

Step 4. Use the Trade Permission and Open Trading Post.

This is the window that will now pop up.

You have 100 trades for 20 hours. Meaning you can make 50 buys and 50 sell backs for a total of 100 trades to the Trading post.
The products are listed in the window as well.

The first 2-3 products are the products made in that city, meaning that is where they will be cheapest to buy.
The rest of the products is what you will be selling to that city.

Now this is where you make money. The general idea here is to buy low sell high. Products bought in their home town are cheaper than being bought at another other town.
So buy where the item was originated and sell to a different town.

Simple, right?

BUT, before you make ANY trades, be sure to do your research!
Visit towns and check the prices of the items you are going to buy and sell.
Always aim for the ones with the best difference, meaning, towns/items that will give you more profit.

How will you know how much an item is being bought for?
Generally, the item will be bought for 90% of the selling price of that town.
So for example, Product A is being sold at this town for 1mil.
They will buy that product for 900k.

A tip: Those items that are ‘low’ in stock, will be paid more for. So buy items that are in abundance, and sell to towns who have a shortage. (From my experience, Less than 5000 is shortage, Greater than 5800-6000 is abundance).

Now you may be asking.. How in the world will I know where to sell the items to?
Luckily for you, I’ve compiled a nice list of the products, where they originated from and where they can be sold to.

Click here for that list …
voila now you know where to check the prices for the products you decide to sell!

Note: Values are estimates, those that are marked 2 mil range from 1.7mil – 2mil. Those stated at 1.5mil are between 1.3-1.7; 1mil is ranged between 700k-1.3mil; and 500k is ranged 300k-700k.

Sorted by value then each column is alphabetically ordered.

Trade Post can only be done once every 20 hours.
Meaning once you activate the Trade Permission, you need to wait 20 hours before doing another 100 trades.

You ONLY have 100 trades. If you buy too many items you’ll need to wait until the next day to sell the left over items.

Depending on items, generally, those items worth more (1.5+ range) will turn in more profit.
However, always research your items and find the maximum profit.
Many players may trade around so many 2 mil products that the 1.5mil products will give you more gold.

NEVER take out more than 20-30mil. The tax of putting that money back into the bank will take a large toll on your profits.

Don’t engage any mobs while holding your money. Especially ones that might kill you! Losing money is never fun. :’(

—-

So, thank you very much for looking through this guide!
Any questions, comments, or mistakes please let me know!
Notes : All info from mistakes of my own being made in the trading post xD
I’m REALLY sorry for any mistakes/types in the spreadsheet @_@ There was a lot of info >_<
All product information taken from the game database. (Yes, I visited every town wrote them all down and put them into this list xD)
Please do not copy! It took a lot of hard work and time, if you’d like to use, please link back here, to it’s original home =)

Grade: C
Range: Melee
Weapon Type: Axe
Off Hand: Captured Beasts
Required Recruitment Level: 44
Summary: Beast Trainers are powerful mercenaries that can do damage to all enemies at once by summoning wild beasts.
~They can wield Axes with high Attack Power and also possess the highest degree of Action Power and Vitality. Beast Trainers are powerful Melee Mercenaries. However, they are somewhat weak in their resistance to magic. They are also not able to use most magic due to their weak intellect.
- They can use [Beast Summon] magic to do damage to all enemies at once.
- A character who uses an axe will cause more damage to melee mercenaries (Sword/Spear/Axe) and less damage to ranged mercenaries (Bow/Gun/Cannon) in a PvP battle.
- Above effects will only apply to PvP battles. During regular hunting, there will be no difference.

Should I recruit a Beast Trainer/Does she fit into my lineup?: She is an incredible tank and can fit perfectly into your frontline or be a backup frontliner. She is an axe type and dishes out above average regular attack damage, a little less than a viking in comparison. She has a decent AoE move called Beast Summon which uses capture beasts in your offhand.

Supplies: I recommend that you purchase a lot of food and I highly recommend getting a Teleport License as you will be traveing ALOT.
*REQUIRED SUPPLIES:* Save yourself some time and buy these from the market, you need it for some quests later on.
-Shining Glass x 20
-Powder of Life x 20
-Powder of Spirit x 30

Chapter I: Beast Trainer Nari
After hitting level 44 you should head to New Delhi to pick up your first quest to recruit the Beast trainer.

4. To Hwa Man:

4. Test of Pride:

Chapter III: Party Quests
The Following Quests require you to enter Mohenjodaro’s Shadow which you can get to by going to Central Mohenjodaro first. This shadow dungeon is very high level and I recommend that you either get a high level buddy or party to help you finish them.
*XaatXuun also added that Bewitching Scrolls are very helpful for these quests using about 1-2 per quest. For the boss fight Scroll of Reinforcements will help you take him down faster as well*

1. Dark Harpie Claw’s: Located in Mohenjodaro’s Shadow 1F; You can get there by going through Northern=>Eastern=>Central Mohenjodaro first. These are flying monsters and cannot be hit by melee mercs but can be hit by their spells.

2. Enchanted Bones: Located in Mohenjodaro’s Shadow 2F; Make sure you keep your front line healed these guys have a very strong melee attack and attack spell.

3. Red Eye Balls: Located in Mohenjodaro’s Shadow 3F; Make sure you have a monk or cleansing scrolls as these mobs DoT alot.

4-6. Collecting War Supplies: Remember those Required supplies I told you to get? Heres where you need to turn them in. NPC Bao Sanniang standing next to Hwa Man

7. The Last Favor: *BOSS* As the quest title suggests, this is the last quest in the chain. His level varies around level 55-58. He hits fairly hard and does an AoE Damage move every 2-3 turns. I don’t recommend soloing him as I did but if you do kill the other monsters first which makes him so much easier. Try to keep him silenced, frozen, or stunned. Kill the priests first they go down pretty fast and then the ravana guys.

If you made it this far… CONGRATULATIONS! You have just earned a Beast Trainer Sealed Casket!

If you would like to repeat this chain for exp or Giant crystals, Purchase a Secret of times: Beast Trainer from the market and turn it in to the NPC.

If you are struggling with this quest chain donot give up! Get help or ignore this chain until you are 4-5 lvls higher and try again.

Thanks for reading my Guide and enjoy your new mercenary

Grade: C
Range: Melee
Weapon Type: Sword
Offhand: N/A
Required Recruitment Level: 57
Summary: Hands down one of the most useful mercenaries for PvP; The exorcist is able to lock down enemies from using spells, increase the action power of your staff users, and burn the opponents mana. He also can decently be a frontline or backup frontline mercenary, although for PvP you may want to keep him near the back so he doesn’t get stunned or disabled.
- A character who uses a sword will cause more damage to melee mercenaries (Sword/Spear/Axe) and less damage to ranged mercenaries (Bow/Gun/Cannon) in a PvP battle.

Should I Recruit an Exorcist/Does he fit in my lineup?: First and foremost ask yourself this; Do you ever wish to seriously PvP? If so the exorcist is an essential to pick up, even if you are not going to use him anytime soon. Some people argue that he is decent for PvE, Speed Cast/Mana Burn, but honestly there are many other mercs that are more useful. He can frontline decently though it is not recommended.

*WINDOWED MODE RECOMMENDED FOR QUICK GUIDE VIEWING *

Supplies: I recommend getting some Scrolls of Bewitching and Reinforcements as they will help out in the Shadow Dungeon. Also always carry some food and Life potions.
*REQUIRED SUPPLIES*: Save yourself some time and get buy the following items from the Market as you will need them some time along the quest chain.
-Crystal of Magic x50
-Shining Glass x50
-Powder of Life x 50
-Powder of Spirit x30

Forgotten Title Info: The Secret Vial for Memory Loss is under quest crafting (it is not the Secret Vial of Amnesia from the item mall).
*Credit goes to Kiena and thanks to Zpirit for bringing this up *

Chapter I: Iris
After reaching level 57 head to Devil’s Forest which is northwest of Moscow.

1. Shhh! Someone’s Here: Kill Protector of Evil x50; you should see them in the area around Iris very simple

2. Collecting Pieces of a Dream: Kill Protector of Evil/Ruler of Darkness for Dream Shard x40

Chapter II: Citratus

1. Helping Citratus: Just auto move to him and avoid any monsters along the way. (If you hold both mouse buttons down you can steer while auto moving)

2. The Powder of Life: Turn in Powder of Life x50

3. That is No Dog: Kill Young Cerberus x50

(Blue Dot for Quests 3&4)
4. It Might Be A Dog: Hunt Young Cerberus’ and Cerberus for Cerberus Collar x50

5. Acquiring Dream Powder: Kill Evil Energy Spirits, Crazy Spirits, and Ancient Ghosts for Dream Powder x60

6. Powder of Spirit: Turn in Powder of Spirit x30

7. Ward off the Ancient Evil Spirits: Kill Ancient Ghosts x50; They are south of Citratus in the same area as the Crazy Spirits.

8. Avoid The Eyes of the Watcher: Use Secret Vial of Night. *If you want Forgotten title here is where you get the vials*

9. A Walk in Devil’s Forest: Return to Iris

10. The Watching Bell’s: Here is where the quests started to get harder for me, especially cause these monsters fly and cannot be hit by melee. Remember you can still use spells on them even if your mercenary is melee. Also try to kill these bats before they get to low health as they will self destruct when they are low. Also another thing to look out for is that these bats come in groups of 2. Kill Night Watchers and Guardians for Watching Bell x50.

11. Michael’s Escape: Return to Citratus

Chapter III: The Prison of Night
The following quests will have you entering this shadow dungeon and I recommend getting a buddy or two to help you especially if you are around level 57-61 as it will be very difficult for you to solo. Scrolls of Bewitching and Reinforcements will help you out so grab a couple.

1. Acquiring Nightmare Powder: Kill Nightmare Mages and Priests, located in Prison of Night 1F, for Nightmare Powder x50. *Kill the Nightmare Mages first, the red ones, as they will resurrect their fallen comrades. The Nightmare Priests will occasionally Brutal Will their party.

2. Take Over The Prison Of Night 1F: Kill Nightmare King x40. Located deeper within the 1F, these monsters hit around 409-617 with their normal attack and use an AoE Rain of Fire. They are a Dark Brown Version of the Nightmare guys.
*SUPER SECRET TIP Thanks to my awesome guildie Buffless of Mycenae:* To save yourself alot of time you can just kill the Nightmare Kings, DONOT LOOT THEM, and let the Nightmare Mages resurrect them. RINSE AND REPEAT ENJOY

3. For the Warrior: Kill the Succubus located in the Room of Suffering. She is a level 67 boss who is immune to stuns and does a very damaging AoE skill. She hits between 900-1300 damage. I recommend killing the other monsters asap so you can reach her with Silence/Freezing Axe. Always have these up and she will be as easy as 123.

4. My Work Is Done: CONGRATULATIONS! You aren’t done yet , but donot fret just a couple more before you get your awesome new Exo . Head back to Iris.

5. Collecting The Night Chains: Hunt Night Prison Guards and Chief Prison Guards, in Prison of Night 2F, for Night Chain x40. The Night Prison Guards will use Freezing Axe on your Party so make sure your front line is Holy Guarded. The Chief Prison Guards mana burn so don’t take too long to kill them or you will be out of mana.

6. Crystal of Magic: Turn in Crystal of Magic x50

7. The Absolute Being of the Prison Tyrants: Kill Prison Tyrants x30, located in Prison of Night 2F. They hit between 300-500 damage per hit and these guys get combo’s like crazy xD. They also use a skill called Fatal Shot and to be honest I forget what it does. If anyone can find out it would be much appreciated thanks.

8. Destroy the Incubus: Kill the Incubus located in the Room of Nightmares. He is the last boss of the Exo chain and is level 68. He is NOT a solo boss so you can get a friend to help if you need to. He hit for a huge amount, somewhere between 1000-1250 and has Stun, Freeze, and Silence Immunity. He also does a Devastating AoE move which will wipe half of your life out if you are around 66-67 and below. Save some time and get help just in case for this guy he is pretty hard .

9. For The Angel: Turn in Shining Glass x50

CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW EXORCIST! I would like to thank you for viewing this guide and it was a pleasure writing it

Introduction

Imagine this scenario.

You are fighting in the Free League. It’s the last match, and you’re up against the last remaining members of your opponent’s team: his main, his healer, and one of his mid-line characters. They’re all in the red, but they outnumber you and your healer. But you too are in the red, and it’s completely possible for you to screw it all up.

How do you choose to proceed? You think it up while waiting for your turn to come up. Your last line of defense has just fallen, and it’s just you and your healer. Always note that your healer may always fall first.

A minute left and the Free League is over.

It’s now your turn. Your head begins to spin. You have to win this, and get your Atlantis Silver Coins!

Your healer’s turn is spent on keeping you both alive. You cast an area of effect spell — their healer falls. Immediately after your turn, damage points appear above your opponent’s end at the signal of the start of their turn. His main falls. His other two mercenaries fall right behind.

You’ve won.

——-

This is a common scenario that happens in Free League fights, especially when battles are tight. You feel that adrenaline rush of wanting to win, and you have a smile on your face. Your hands are frozen yet you don’t feel cold. This kind of adrenaline rush normally happens to certain mains. One of them is the musician.

If you’ve done a little of your research, or even just looked at the starting screen while creating your main, you would know that musicians are long-ranged characters that are able to strike at two characters, one behind the other and are also able to select from two rows, making the musicians able to hit virtually anyone in the line-up of your opponent.

The musicians (muses, guitar or music mains) are the powerhouses of damage over time. (or DoT) Damage over Time means that the longer the battle goes, the more damage your character deals. In Atlantica Online, a musician is a vital part of your lineup as your main DoT dealer. But why should you choose a musician? What kind of mercs will a musician be able to work well with? Is using a musician harder than other mercenaries?

Now that we’ve covered the basic premise of the musician, we’ll get to actually introducing the reasons for using the musician as well as answering your other questions in the next parts of the guide. In the mean time, please sit back, relax, and enjoy reading up on one of my favorite character main classes of Atlantica Online.

Reasons and Usages

Why should I play a musician?

If this question pops into your mind, you should think of the scenario stated in the introduction once more. When playing a musician, you are able to really bring in the hurt to your opponent’s mercenaries turn-by-turn. Of course, any good musician worth their salt would also know that it’s not just up to them to do everything. A musician is able to sail through PvE and PvP especially at later levels, making them ideal for hunting and dungeon runs.

The main usage of a musician is pressuring. Pressuring in PvP means what it means: to press your opponent into making decisions that save themselves and applying moves that can trump your opponents’. A musician is a powerful adversary if used correctly, but they are also very easily taken down in the wrong hands. It’s why it’s important to at least feel out the musician first and study a little bit about them.

It’s customary to note that while a musician can indeed be powerful, any player worth their salt can still beat you. More of the disadvantages of playing a musician will be noted in later posts.

Are musicians hard to play?

Experienced players will most likely note that musicians are not very hard to play at all. In fact, there is no real hard main to play if you’ve really started to understand how they work and what they do. Playing a musician, I’ve seen myself last longer and no longer die from boss battles. The game will probably be a little less difficult playing a musician, not that the game is difficult at all.

Some basic things to note about musicians at the current time (I stress this point because we’ve not yet received the updates to them in the Korean version of Atlantica Online) are as follows:

Musicians are great in PvE and PvP.

Musicians are impressive grinders.

Musicians deal great damage over time.

Musicians fit in well with pressure builds.

Now that you have the basic reasons of musicians and how to play them, we’ll list some of the advantages and disadvantages of playing musicians as a whole in the next post. Please stay tuned!

Pros & Cons: Understanding your Strengths and Weaknesses

The Pros & Cons section of this guide cite things from when you’re already playing a musician. These things are updated as of June 19, 2009 (GMT+8). Please take note that the things I’m citing here all come from experience from the THEBES server, so certain things may not apply to other servers. When I hear examples from players from the other servers, I will cite them as references. (:

Pros of a Musician

Excellent for beginners: See above list on Reasons and Usages.

Easily earns money.

Musicians can debuff well.

Instruments are inexpensive at the start.

Fast levels: You can outlevel your mercs. Therefore, you can be able to start quests earlier than you’d expect.

Grinding becomes fun, in the odd event that you do grind.

Cons of a Musician

Musicians now suffer from lower HP than other ranged-type characters.

Armor becomes increasingly expensive, especially in the end.

You’ll need to equip your mercenaries well throughout the game: no hand-me-down’s.

Instruments become expensive as well at the end, even more than certain weapons.

You will vastly outlevel your mercs. Therefore, you will be the last one standing and musicians aren’t made to withstand too many hits.

There are a lot of musicians; you’d seem cliche, though powerful.

Rumors of nerfing the musician’s Ravaging Melody will decrease their usefulness in PvP.

You will fart out your money just as much as you earn it.

Musicians cannot spike damage, so battles usually take a bit longer.

Musicians are masters of debuffing, but they suffer from being susceptible to other mercenaries’ (and other musicians’) debuffs.

You will mostly rely on one skill throughout the game, as other DoT skills for ranged characters pale in comparison to it, and you don’t deal powerful damage until level 100. Some people would say you’re a one-trick pony; provided that this trick is actually very good.

In the list, provided you do not place the additions of the earlier list, you might see that the cons outweigh the pros. But some of the cons are applicable for a lot of other mains, particularly those with the same equipment type as musicians. And as for the nerf information, a poster below, a sir Uber, has kindly offered explanations on how the nerf shall affect a musician. Thank you, Uber! ^^

Quoting said poster, the effects of the nerf is said that for PvP, Ravaging Melody will deal 40% less damage than on PvE. In PvE, everything remains the same, but the nerf can still be salvageable with a few charms on hand. However, as of the June 17 patch, musicians have been nerfed in terms of maximum HP and attack power, as well as Ravaging Melody. Melody of Madness’ cool down has been reduced (but so has its damage) as well as the musician’s evasion being increased.

—

Now that we have that out of the way, let’s talk about how to understand the strengths and weaknesses of a musician. The main strength of a musician lies in his or her debuffs, that allow the musician to fit in perfectly with a pressure build. In PvE one may say that debuffs don’t matter. As a matter of fact, it does — especially in the latter parts of the game, when debuffing monsters make it easier for you to really put in the hurt on the opponent.

Enemies in the Taj Mahal, for example, or enemies in the Valley of the Kings. Having Ravaging Melody (or a number of other debuffs: certain mobs really help bring out the usefulness in certain mercenaries. Mana Seal works wonders for the mummy magician mobs and sage Anubis mobs in the Valley of the Kings. In the same way, Ravaging Melody shows its usefulness in almost every situation.)

To be able to work well in PvP or PvE, you have to build your mercenaries around your debuffs. Think for a moment of what you want to do in the future: your musician’s damage over time works well for damaging opponents down and whittling away at their sanity — at least if they don’t know what they’re doing. What would work well around those debuffs?

In PvE, massive spiking is good and easy with your musician. This means you can AoE all you want — in PvP, it’s a different matter. Being as though you’re fighting real people who have experience, it’s different — massive spiking becomes rather hard due to holy guards or shamans/oracles, and you never really count on monsters to heal themselves — and even if they do, their heals are rather weak.

Keep to mind that with musicians (and with other mains,) not everything that works for PvE will work in PvP. Your musician is a vital part of your team — use him or her well, and you will reap many rewards.

—

The musician’s weaknesses lie in PvP. Musicians come at a handful in PvP, which makes it hard for you to be diverse. The only way to be diverse is to build your mercenaries properly. Remember that you must build your team around your debuffs, and what would work well around it. Pick your battles well, and really pinpoint your opponent’s weaknesses.

Also remember that with DoT, your musician is able to sneak experience points away from your other mercenaries, which makes it hard for them to level. Ravaging Melody can really sap your experience, which can make you vastly outlevel your mercenaries. It’s expensive to be a musician because of the upkeep: you have to really let your mercenaries wear the best to let them survive in areas twenty levels higher than they are. It becomes really expensive in the end, so you really have to work at it.

Added to the fact that most starting mercenaries really usually don’t work well with your musician; the mercenaries you get in the end or while playing are the ones that work rather well with your musician. That doesn’t mean you should be discouraged, it just means you really, really have to build well.

Still reading? Thanks for coming this far. Coming up next: THE EXCITING CONCLUSION!

The Exciting Conclusion!

You’re probably asking, what about the musician’s skills? or what build fits well with a musician? Well, this guide isn’t here to feed you information to use during the game. This is the beginner’s look into the life of a musician: how they work and how they are generally seen in public view.

Besides, one can learn about the powers of a musician while playing — and most of the good things a musician can really get is in the end. The starting skill, or Ravaging Melody, is the A+ Musician skill one can use.

As for your builds, test it out for yourself and see what works. Don’t stress on it, you can always level later. The musician is there to help you ease your stay in Atlantica, and the musician will always be the #1 debuffer around.

In conclusion, if you’re new to Atlantica and want to play someone fun, easy and will help you to your second character, a musician may be one of the better companions to your journey in search of the ancient civilization. Who knows? Perhaps you’ll stay on the musician. Everyone I know has loved playing one, and it’s true and tested that a musician really shines as a main character.

This has been your loyal servant Fantine, signing off saying, “please give musicians a chance!” ^_^

Introduction
Hello and welcome! This guide is going to determine whether or not a sword main fits you. Do you like using sword and shield? Like being a melee character with high defence and high health? Do you like doing damage while being able to stay alive with your mighty defence? Some say we sword mains suck but that is not true! We are amazing tanks, deal great spiking damage, carry a shield for extra defence!

sword main
Lets take a look at our +’s and -’s

Pros:
1. We can tank and have high health/defence.
2. We have great spiking skills. EX: Flame Sword/ Chaos edge.
3. We are the only class that gets + skill from swords.
4. We can fit into almost any formation since we are a great tank.
5. We have high AP gain.
6. We get extra defence since we can carry a shield unlike the other melee mercs such as spear/axe.
7. We are not squishy like a staff main and ranged mains that have low hp/defence.

Cons:
1. We can’t hit any mercs like ranged.
2. We attack 1 merc at a time.
3. We dont get flame resistant unlike lady knight and swordsman mercs.

If this interested you a little read on!

Sword main skills
Priority 1-5. 1 being lowest 5 being highest

Skills
1. Flame Sword – 5
- Its a great spiking skill and does nice damage.
- You can max at 60 or leave at 40, whichever you see fit to your liking

2. Break Down – 3
- Its an AoE (area of effect).
- Its good for AoE builds but it does little damage
- If so don’t get this but if you like having an AoE then you may level it up.

3. Deadly Strike – 2
- This skill is optional it takes away a lot of AP and leaves you useless for a few turns
- Level as see fit but not recommended

4. Gaurd Dispel – 4
- This skills dispels Holy Gaurd (monk skill)
- Only level this skill to 11, at that it’ll never miss

5. Dark Seed – 1
- Unrecommended this skill isn’t that useful for a sword main if so don’t level this

6. Chaos Edge – 5
- This is one of our better spikes
- It attacks row and deals extra damage to seth will’d mobs
- This is a level 100 main only skill that you may aquire after doing the main only quest at level 100
- If so max this or leave it at 40 if you have other skills

Now that you know what skills you can aquire lets get down to business.

You might be asking yourself;

1. Why would I want to be frontlined when I can hide in the back like a ranged/staff main?

2. I can only attack 1 merc instead of a row attack like axe or a column attack like gunner and spear?

3. Big whoop I have extra defence but what about damage??

4. Why would i want to be a sword main when i can just have a sword merc.

Here are some answers to those types of questions;

1. Although you are frontlined and prone to being attacked first you are able to withstand those relentless attacks. You do understand that at level 50+ you have a full party of 9 mercs and they can prove advantages to how you play. Like having a monk with protect giving you even more defence and a heal each turn, or a prophet which heals you each turn and gives you an accuracy bonus being a melee main, even having better heal cause you have a good ammount of magic defence which allows Healing (oracle) or Blessing of light (shaman) to heal you even more then lets say a viking with low magic defence.

2. Although gunners/axe/spear mains attack more they deal less damage spread out. With sword main you can focus on taking down 1 merc at a time, poking a hole into their formation and wreaking havoc on their squishy middle and back line mercs.

3.Since you carry a shield instead of an orb (staff) or ammuntion (ranged mains) and other melee mains can use the gaurd stones but they don’t add as much as the mighty shield! Damage? you are a sword main! you can use flame sword and chaos edge to your advantage. If there is a weak magic defence frontliner SPAM IT WITH MAGIC! spike that pesky viking or spear mercs to nothing with those magic strikes.

4. A sword merc is good at tanking but with recent updates we out do our D-Class merc counterparts. But also what main can’t be replaced? Axe main - Northern viking’s ice ridge is way better, Staff main - shaman and oracle can heal and witch/elementalist can deal AoE but although not as good as flame blow, Archer main - Archers and Prophets can hit any merc and they do good damage but archer main still does nice damage also archer merc can silence too, Gunner main - Janni and inventor can do more then a gunner main themselves – Janni can do more damage with shooting stance and inventor is like having 2 mercs with his summon, Cannon main - If you only care about deep insight get the arty merc and cannoner does nice damage as well with his accuracy debuff. Spear main - if you only care about lightning spear just get the spear mercs and if you are the only spear that isn’t that good because spears work best in pairs.

*NOTE* I’m not trying to dis the other classes but I’m just stating that all mains have their Pros and Cons and I didn’t add muse and maniac mains because i have yet to see their new counterparts in the upcoming patches.
